CCCW runs an annual residential Summer Institute on ‘World Christianity and Global Challenges' in Cambridge. Each year the Institute deals with a challenge focusing on the following:
Impacts: How does the challenge affect Christians locally and globally? How does it impact societies?
Responses: The various ways in which Christians and Christian communities respond to it.
Actions: What insights can Christians from different parts of the world learn from each other? How can these shape Christian mission, ministry and education in each one’s local context?

World Christianity Summer Institute "Poverty and the Church"

In partnership with Tearfund, our Summer Institute 2024 will study and reflect on the church’s calling to make a difference and work to end extreme poverty and injustice by reaching out to people and communities in need. One of the main topics will be how poverty relief has been dealt with in the history of the church, which will be one of the themes covered. For instance, Esther Chung-Kim, the Current President of the American Society of Church History, will be delivering a keynote based on her recently published OUP book, "Economics of Faith: Reforming Poor Relief in Early Modern Europe". Other speakers also will touch on biblical, theological, historical, and contemporary aspects of churches and Christians responding to poverty.
We welcome theological students, educators, researchers, and any Christian interested in learning about Christianity in other parts of the world.

Included events:
- A charity walk from ‘Kingston to Cambridge without a Camel’ (8 miles), to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Oxford to Cambridge with a Camel’ walk in 1999. It ends with lunch at
Selwyn College. Funds raised for poverty relief in Kenya.
- Exclusive exhibition of Bibles and rare books on our theme at the University of Cambridge Library
- Visit to the Henry Martyn Hall, Cambridge
- Visit to King’s College Chapel
- Worship in the University of Cambridge College chapels
